Hollywood Casino and Hotel Aurora’s new development combines several building types on an 18.7-acre site north of Interstate 88 and Farnsworth Road. Power Construction’s project account credits Marnell Companies as architect and designer, and explains that the complex uses three different structural approaches.
The structure changes with the use
The casino is steel-framed, with concrete placed on metal decking. The hotel is a seven-storey post-tensioned concrete building. The garage uses a precast concrete superstructure fabricated by Aurora-based ATMI Precast. These are distinct construction systems serving different parts of one connected destination.
Power’s account adds an unusually specific construction detail: each hotel floor was divided into two concrete pours, with an average three-day cycle for each pour. That makes the hotel legible as a repeated construction sequence rather than simply a finished silhouette.
The contrast is instructive. A casino floor, stacked hotel rooms and a multi-level parking structure have different spatial demands. Selecting separate systems allows the project team to address those uses individually while integrating them at the site level. The source documents the chosen systems; it does not publish a comparative analysis establishing that they were the only feasible options.
Use the opening record for the operating hotel count
PENN’s June 2026 grand-opening announcement identifies 226 standard rooms and suites in the seven-storey hotel. Power’s construction page lists a different room total. For the hotel’s opening inventory, the operator’s launch figure is the appropriate reference; the contractor’s account remains valuable for the structure and construction process.
The combination offers a useful way to read the resort. Above the public-facing finishes sit three different material and assembly stories, with local precast fabrication playing a named role. The architecture is unified as a destination, but its construction is deliberately varied.
