The largest speakers in a theatre are not necessarily the whole sound system. At Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, California, the published installation account describes an arrangement that distributes sound across several listening positions. Its significance lies in the supporting speakers as much as the conspicuous arrays beside the stage.
A May 2022 installation report in Live Design identifies L-Acoustics engineer André Pichette as the system designer and Sound Image’s Escondido office as the integrator. The main setup used twelve K2 enclosures on each side, supported by suspended and stage-level subwoofers.
Coverage is a room-wide problem
The report also describes smaller speakers serving the front of the stage, additional side coverage and delayed loudspeaker systems for the balcony. Each of the nine second-level suites received its own pair of speakers. Stage-monitoring equipment served another purpose again: supporting the performers rather than covering the audience.
This makes the installation easier to understand as a network of listening areas. A large room is not one uniform point in space. The equipment list describes a response to its different positions, rather than a claim that one powerful pair of speakers can do every job.
The room itself can change
The theatre consultant Apeiro Design’s project record adds the architectural side. It describes an adaptable seating platform that can transition between tiered seating and a flat floor, with capacity varying by arrangement. Its account identifies a 3,800-square-foot stage and the ability to use house production systems or incorporate touring equipment.
Apeiro also records the less visible support spaces: dressing rooms, loading and marshalling areas, offices and laundry facilities. Those details explain why a performance venue is more than its auditorium. The public room and the production spaces have to work together even when the audience only experiences one side of that relationship.
The two records serve different purposes. The installation report documents equipment at the 2022 opening; the consultant explains the theatre’s intended flexibility. Neither is an independent listening test, and neither establishes that every component remains unchanged today.
The current operator page confirms an active performance programme and gives the address as 777 San Manuel Boulevard, Highland, California 92346, United States. It states that guests must be at least 21. The Casino Directory entry links the theatre’s setting to the correct operating casino resort.
