At Resorts World Sentosa, the Equarius TreeTop Lofts turn the boundary of a hotel room into the main design feature. The two residences, Angsana and Tembusu, sit within the tree canopy. Their interest lies in how a guest can look out, step outside and still keep the room usable in a tropical setting.

The DP Architects project account, crediting DP Design, describes full-height sliding doors on both sides of the room. They open onto a timber deck around the unit. A second set of sliding elements combines timber slats with insect screens, allowing a filtered connection to the surroundings.

That second layer is the telling detail. A simple picture window can frame a forest, but a screen also mediates between the room and outdoor conditions. The design offers more than a choice between fully sealed glass and a completely open edge. Its joinery is part of the experience of staying among trees.

DP’s account says preservation of existing greenery shaped the approach and explains that the units take their names from local trees. Inside, light wood and stone, green accents and botanical patterns extend the setting through material choices. This is a named designer’s account of design intent, rather than a claim that the accommodation has no environmental impact.

The operator’s current room description places the lofts about 12 metres above ground and lists a 94-square-metre interior with a balcony of 96 to 98 square metres. The outside area is therefore at least as large as the enclosed room. That proportion makes the perimeter deck an organising part of the accommodation.

The operator also describes a living room, en-suite bedroom and butler service. Those hospitality provisions sit within a relatively small architectural intervention: two residences rather than another large hotel block. For understanding the wider casino resort, the lofts show how a different pace and scale can be created through the careful treatment of a room’s edges.
