The cultural setting around Casino Bad Ragaz extends beyond the gaming venue. At the Grand Resort, a published art guide identifies individual works and their makers. The surrounding town also prepares for Bad Ragartz, a separate sculpture triennial whose next edition is scheduled for 2027.
The resort’s art-and-culture page names Appia Figures by Gil Topaz, Balance by Thomas Röthel, Brick House by Simone Leigh and Laura non c’e by Bruno Walpoth. It provides a digital guide with text and audio interpretation, giving the collection a route into the artists’ work rather than leaving sculptures as anonymous landscape decoration.
Two ways of encountering sculpture
The same resort page offers guided art walks to non-hotel guests subject to availability. This is a separately described cultural activity, not a benefit that should be assumed from casino admission. The distinction is useful because the resort’s collection and the town-wide festival involve different organisers and visiting arrangements.
The Bad Ragartz foundation announces its tenth edition for 1 May to 31 October 2027, with more than 400 sculptures planned. Its geography includes Bad Ragaz, Vaduz and the Old Bath Pfäfers. Esther and Rolf Hohmeister founded the initiative in 2000, and the foundation describes the continuing involvement of three family generations.
As of November 2026, those dates are a future programme. A photograph from an earlier triennial does not establish that a particular sculpture remains in place, and the announced total is not an inventory of the resort collection. Keeping those scales separate gives a clearer picture of the destination’s art life.
The interesting connection is the way sculpture can change a walk through a hospitality landscape. A permanent or continuing collection offers repeat encounters; a temporary regional exhibition encourages a wider circuit and a different rhythm of discovery. For the casino’s setting, both add cultural context without making the casino itself the owner or curator of every artwork nearby.
