Jeju Shinhwa World: Korean Animation Becomes a Physical Landscape

Evergreen feature. Information checked 5 November 2026.

At Jeju Shinhwa World, animation becomes something visitors move through. Shinhwa Theme Park uses Korean characters as the basis for different zones, ride names and smaller details around the grounds. The result offers a useful example of how a screen-based creative property can organise a physical environment within a much larger hotel and entertainment development.

Characters provide the organising structure

The resort developer’s business overview identifies its partnership with Korean animation company TUBAn and names three areas: Rotary Park, Larva’s Adventure Village and Oscar New World. These names establish distinct settings rather than one continuous decorative theme. The developer’s description also includes a 4D theatre and a central stage, showing that the park’s programme extends beyond mechanical rides.

The current park page carries that structure into its attraction list, with Flying Larva, Larva’s Sweet Carousel, Oscar’s Dragon and Rotary Park 4D Theater. Dining and retail names also refer to the characters. Taken together, the listings suggest a design method in which familiar identities help visitors recognise different experiences across the grounds.

One particularly concrete detail appears in the operator’s Adventure Play Ground description: a chameleon slide and a toilet represented as a hallabong orange basket. This brings the themed treatment down to the scale of play equipment and ordinary facilities. It is a reminder that place-making in an attraction depends on small practical objects as well as a large entrance or headline ride.

The resort contains several distinct destinations

The theme park has its own operational information, including guidance on height restrictions and attractions that can run in rain. Those details matter more for a particular visit than a historic total number of rides. The availability of an individual attraction can change, so the current park information should take priority over an older brochure or an undated photograph.

Elsewhere in the complex, the casino now presents itself as LES A Casino. Its official location page gives 38 Shinhwayeoksa-ro 304 beon-gil, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, South Korea. The developer identifies it as a foreigner-exclusive casino in the Marriott resort’s basement. The theme park and casino should therefore be understood as separate facilities, with their own access requirements.

The existing Jeju Shinhwa World directory entry retains the older Landing Casino wording. For the park’s creative story, the central point is TUBAn’s translation from animation into spaces: characters become a vocabulary for movement, activity and recognition across an operating resort.
