Casino Velden’s Two Casineums: A Circle and a Lake-Facing Room

Casino Velden’s event spaces share a name, but they do not share the same spatial character. The original Casineum is circular; the Casineum am See is a longer, glazed room oriented toward Lake Wörthersee. This evergreen feature considers what those differences mean for the way a gathering occupies the building, rather than treating its meeting facilities as interchangeable floor area.

Two contrasting room shapes

The operator’s event-space description gives the circular Casineum a diameter of 19 metres and an area of 270 square metres. Lowerable walls allow connections to the gaming room and foyer. Its distinctive feature is therefore not simply its shape, but the ability to alter its relationship with neighbouring interiors.

The lakeside hall is described as 480 square metres, with full-height glazing and a length of 28.4 metres. Its view provides an external focus, whereas the circular room’s character is shaped by its perimeter and internal connections. This comparison is an interpretation of the documented geometry, not a claim that either room forces one particular seating plan.

The spaces around the main halls

The Carinthia convention bureau’s destination presentation places the two halls alongside a 400-square-metre foyer and smaller restaurant and bar spaces. That wider set of rooms matters because an event includes arrivals, intervals and informal conversation as well as its principal session. The foyer is part of the venue’s working area, rather than merely the gap before a hall.

For someone studying the property as a business venue, this suggests a useful way to read its plan: identify the main gathering room, then trace the supporting spaces around it. A circular hall with movable boundaries and a lake-facing hall with a strong view offer different starting points for that exercise. Neither can be fully understood by comparing square metres alone.

A town-centre lakeside setting

The casino’s current contact and travel page confirms Am Corso 17 in central Velden. It describes the railway station as approximately 750 metres away, or about a ten-minute walk, and identifies regional S-Bahn and bus connections. The property is consequently part of the town’s circulation network rather than an isolated conference campus.

The architectural interest lies in these nested relationships: room shape, connections to adjacent spaces and position within the resort town. The two Casineums give one casino address more than one way to host a gathering. Understanding the circle, the glazed lakeside room and the supporting foyer makes their differences tangible without relying on a headline maximum attendance figure.
