NagaWorld: the property and its location
Property and location research updated 26 October 2026.
An integrated resort beside the capital’s rivers
NagaWorld is a large urban resort in Phnom Penh, combining land-based casino facilities with accommodation, restaurants, entertainment and meeting space. Its setting near the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap places it within the Cambodian capital’s river landscape rather than in an isolated holiday enclave. NagaCorp describes a complex of approximately two million square feet, with 1,658 rooms and suites across its expanded operation. Those figures describe the overall resort, not a single hotel building. NagaWorld 1 and NagaWorld 2 are useful names to establish before arranging a meeting, choosing accommodation or finding a restaurant. The complex’s different wings and towers make the precise destination more helpful than simply telling a driver or companion to meet at NagaWorld.

From a river barge to NagaWorld 2
The property’s history began on water. NagaCorp records the inauguration of its original casino on a Bassac River barge on 1 May 1995. On 1 October 2003, casino operations moved from that barge to the ground floor of the entertainment wing on land. This distinction matters when reading about the resort’s age: the business’s founding date is not the opening date of every building visible today. Further expansion brought NagaCity Walk in August 2016 and the soft opening celebration for NagaWorld 2 on 3 November 2017. Together, these stages explain why the property feels more like an assembled hospitality district than a hotel conceived and completed in one phase. They also connect its development directly to Phnom Penh’s riverfront history. The original floating venue therefore belongs to the historical narrative, not the present visitor experience.

A theatre within the second complex
NABA Theatre is one of the clearest examples of the resort’s noncasino functions. Located on Level 2 of NagaWorld 2, the venue has 2,000 seats according to its official description. Its name expands to Nations Arts Bayon Academy, linking the performance space’s identity to arts rather than accommodation. The operator describes the use of video mapping within the theatre, although that general description should not be read as a technical specification for a particular production. A theatre building and an active performance schedule are different things: visitors should consult the current programme before planning an evening around a show. For orientation, the important detail is that this venue belongs to the second complex, not the original hotel wing.

Meetings and large gatherings
Business events form another part of NagaWorld’s identity. The official venue information lists more than 1,800 square metres of meeting space across five venues. Its Grand Ballroom occupies over 1,100 square metres and is described as pillarless, a layout relevant to audience sightlines and flexible room arrangements. Published capacities distinguish between a banquet for 700 and theatre seating for 1,600; these are alternative configurations, not simultaneous capacities or guarantees for every event. Organisers therefore need a room plan suited to their own staging, catering and circulation requirements. The venue information also identifies projection facilities. This combination of accommodation and event rooms makes the property more than a place encountered solely through its casino branding.

Two dining addresses, two culinary approaches
Indochine provides a regional dining reference point within the original complex. The restaurant is on Level 1 of the Hotel North Wing at NagaWorld 1, and its stated culinary scope brings together Cambodian, Vietnamese and Thai food. That makes it a useful distinction from the resort’s restaurants devoted to other cuisines. The official restaurant page supplies a menu link, allowing visitors to examine actual dishes instead of relying on a broad description of Southeast Asian cooking. Its location is equally important: a restaurant name alone does not identify the right building within this expanding complex.

Cantonese dining in NagaWorld 2
Hall of Golden Chimes offers a separate dining option on Level 5 of NagaWorld 2. Its official description centres on Cantonese cooking and live seafood, with private rooms available through advance arrangements. These details distinguish it from Indochine without suggesting that one restaurant is inherently better. For a group gathering, the private room format may be relevant, but room availability and dietary requirements need direct confirmation. Comparing the two restaurants also illustrates how NagaWorld’s food offering is distributed vertically and between buildings rather than concentrated around one lobby.

Shopping and quieter resort facilities
NagaCity Walk adds an underground shopping gallery to the resort’s mix. The operator identifies China Duty Free Group with this retail space, whose categories include cosmetics, perfume, fashion and accessories. Separately, the NagaRock Souvenir Shop is listed on Level 1. These are different shopping formats: one is a gallery of retail categories, the other a named souvenir outlet. Their presence helps explain the resort’s interconnected character, where visitors may move between hospitality, shopping and entertainment purposes during the same visit.

Pool and exercise facilities
The Hotel Pool Wing contains facilities away from the main entertainment spaces. NagaWorld lists its gym on Level 6, with equipment for cardiovascular exercise and weight training, including treadmills, exercise bicycles and rowing machines. The Amret Palace rooftop pool is identified on Level 9, alongside a pool bar and lounge area with city views. These floor references are more useful than a general promise of resort amenities because they identify where the facilities sit within the property. Access arrangements should be checked for the particular accommodation or visit being planned.

Understanding Phnom Penh beyond the resort
The National Museum of Cambodia provides a contrasting perspective on the capital. Its collections encompass sculpture, ceramics and other Khmer cultural material spanning prehistoric through post Angkorian periods. The museum building was designed by George Groslier, drawing on Cambodian temple forms while adapting them to an institutional building. Its foundation stone was laid in 1917, and inauguration followed on 13 April 1920. Later alterations included work on the eastern façade supervised by Cambodian architect Vann Molyvann in 1968. Reading this history alongside NagaWorld’s much newer development reveals different layers of Phnom Penh: royal and artistic traditions, colonial institutional architecture, Cambodian modernism and contemporary hospitality. The museum is an independent cultural destination, not a resort attraction, and deserves time on its own terms. The museum’s history also records its closure during the Khmer Rouge period, from 1975 to 1979, and reopening on 13 April 1979. Its work consequently involves both presenting artistic traditions and conserving material affected by Cambodia’s difficult recent past.
