Hollywood Casino & Hotel Columbus: the property and its location

Property and location research updated 26 October 2026.

A West Side address with regional connections

Hollywood Casino & Hotel Columbus is an entertainment complex at 200 Georgesville Road. Its location is best understood as a base on the city's western side rather than a downtown hotel surrounded by the central museum district. The operator's directions connect approaching visitors with Interstate 270 and West Broad Street, illustrating its relationship with the regional road network. Its own list of area attractions includes the Scioto Mile, German Village, Ohio Stadium and the Columbus Museum of Art. These are separate destinations across the city, not facilities within the casino grounds. Planning the property and the wider city as distinct parts of a visit makes more sense than assuming that everything listed on the resort website is outside its doors.

The hotel opening in June 2026

PENN Entertainment confirmed the opening of the hotel tower on 12 June 2026. The operator described a US$100 million project containing 203 rooms, divided into 183 standard rooms and 20 suites. Its announcement placed the tower's floor area at 150,000 square feet and identified a restaurant, conference rooms, fitness center and outdoor seating terrace among the additions. This was an expansion of an existing casino property, not the opening of an entirely new casino that summer. The same announcement discussed later work on other facilities subject to approvals. That distinction matters: the confirmed hotel opening should not be used as evidence that every subsequently proposed part of the expansion was completed. The June festivities are historical events, not today's entertainment programme.

Reading the room categories

The current hotel presentation distinguishes king rooms, rooms with two queen beds and suites. Within the main room categories, the operator uses Deluxe, Luxury and View labels. Those names should be read as different accommodation products rather than interchangeable descriptions of one standard room. The hotel page also identifies Nespresso coffee equipment and smart televisions among the room features, with television functions extending to guest information and streaming services. It presents showers and illuminated vanity areas as bathroom features. These are operator descriptions, not a firsthand inspection of comfort or maintenance. A useful comparison therefore starts with the room category and occupancy required, then checks the applicable facilities and terms. A photograph of the hotel cannot establish the exact layout or outlook of every room.

Dining in the casino and hotel

The dining portfolio combines a hotel restaurant with casual outlets and a steakhouse. The Hill Eatery & Lounge is identified as being in the hotel lobby, with breakfast and evening dining built around Midwestern comfort food. Elsewhere, Final Cut Steakhouse, Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace, Mikey's Late Night Slice, Wahlburgers and Zen Noodle represent different menus and service formats. Their presence makes it possible to distinguish a seated meal from a quicker stop without treating every outlet as the same type of restaurant. The operator's descriptions establish the concepts, not independent culinary ratings. Opening patterns, menus and service arrangements should be checked for the outlet. A restaurant listed within the wider complex is not automatically included in a room reservation or available throughout every hour of a stay.

Meeting space as a separate function

Hollywood Columbus also functions as an events venue. Its meetings page describes more than 12,500 square feet of space and presents the Event Center for conferences, weddings, reunions and other gatherings. The stated facilities include adjustable lighting and climate controls, business amenities and catering. Floor area is a useful indication of scale, but it is not an audience capacity: a seated meal, exhibition and presentation require different arrangements. Organizers would need a specific room plan rather than treating the overall area as one guaranteed configuration. This business and function also helps explain why a visitor might use the property without making the gaming floor the focus. The meeting facilities and hotel accommodation should still be assessed separately against the needs of the event.

COSI and the changing downtown landscape

Columbus offers a kind of indoor experience at COSI, the Center of Science and Industry. The institution traces its opening to 29 March 1964 in Memorial Hall, following years of planning around the idea of a science museum. After 35 years there, it moved to 333 West Broad Street on 6 November 1999. COSI identifies architect Arata Isozaki with the design of its 320,000 square foot building. These dates help separate the age of the institution from the age of its present home. For someone staying on the western side of Columbus, the museum provides a reason to explore a different part of the city and its educational infrastructure. It is independently operated, with its own exhibitions, admissions and calendar, rather than an attraction supplied by the hotel.

Plants, glass and the eastern side of Columbus

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens provides another setting. Its John F. Wolfe Palm House dates to 1895, while the institution describes the modern Conservatory as opening in 1993. The current visitor experience covers approximately 13 acres and brings together the building, children's garden and Grand Mallway. Botanical environments and seasonal horticultural displays sit alongside art, including glass works by Dale Chihuly. The separate four acre Community Garden Campus contains demonstration and community growing spaces. These different areas should not be collapsed into a single claim that the whole surrounding park is ticketed or that every programme operates daily. Located approximately two miles from downtown, according to the Conservatory, it is a separate city excursion from Hollywood Columbus. Seasonal displays require checking their own dates rather than relying on undated photographs.

A museum centered on individual service stories

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum adds a historical and dimension to the city. At 300 West Broad Street, it presents the experiences of veterans across branches and periods of service, using letters, photographs, personal objects, multimedia and interactive displays. Its own explanation emphasizes individual stories rather than presenting the institution simply as a collection of military hardware. The project developed from a vision associated with John Glenn and was realized in 2018. This is another independently operated destination, not part of the casino hotel. Together, the museum, COSI and the Conservatory show why a Columbus itinerary need not be defined by one entertainment complex. Their distinct subjects reward separate consideration, and each institution's current access information should take precedence over a city overview.
