Casino Royal Palm: the property and its location
Property and location research updated 26 October 2026.
Royal Palm at the tip of the Croisette
Casino Royal Palm occupies the Palm Beach complex at Place Franklin Roosevelt in Cannes. Its position at the tip of the Croisette distinguishes it from casinos closer to the Palais des Festivals and the central hotel frontage. The official website identifies an evening venue with a restaurant and bar, rather than advertising overnight accommodation. That distinction matters when planning a visit: Palm Beach is the destination complex, while Royal Palm is the casino within it. A reservation elsewhere in the complex should not be assumed to include admission to every separate venue.

The contemporary interior
The operator credits architects Caprini & Pellerin with the current casino design. Its description emphasises ceiling height, layered volumes, pastel and terracotta colours, hand-painted frescoes and subdued lighting. These are the property's own design descriptions, not a claim based on an independent visit. The room contains conventional table games alongside a smaller machine offering, but its architectural identity is more useful to a general visitor than an inventory that may change. A marble-clad bar and an on-site restaurant extend the hospitality setting. None of these features establishes the quality of service on a particular night or changes the financial risks of gambling.

A building with several historical layers
The regional heritage inventory dates the original Palm Beach construction to 1928–1929 and records its inauguration on 5 April 1929. Architect Roger Séassal designed the casino on land previously used for pigeon shooting. Wartime damage was followed by restoration and partial reconstruction in 1947, including the restaurant and its rotunda; the pool surroundings were reworked again in 1951. This chronology explains why the building should not be treated as an untouched interwar interior. Its current appearance combines inherited form with later interventions. Historical plans and photographs in the inventory are useful research references, but their availability does not itself grant permission to reproduce them.

Palm Beach is not the former Municipal Casino
Cannes' municipal historical exhibition distinguishes two leisure buildings. The former Municipal Casino opened in 1907 near the site later occupied by the Palais des Festivals and was demolished in 1979. Palm Beach, inaugurated in 1929, was instead conceived as a summer casino, with restaurants, entertainment rooms and swimming pools. Its architectural character combined Hispano-Moorish and Art Deco influences. Keeping these histories separate prevents a common geographical confusion: a story about the former Municipal Casino is not automatically a story about Royal Palm. The buildings contributed differently to Cannes' resort life, and their successive names do not make them interchangeable directory entries.

The wider hospitality complex
The present Palm Beach website groups several distinct businesses and spaces under one destination. These include Japanese dining at Zuma, La Petite Maison, Il Grande, Medusa and the Royal Palm casino, alongside event facilities and a members' club. Visitors should read this as a collection of venues, not as one package with universal access. A pool, club or private event area can have arrangements unrelated to the casino restaurant. The operator's overview describes a major restoration programme intended to reconnect the building's history with contemporary hospitality.

What the linked restaurant menu actually shows
The menu linked from the casino's own restaurant section provides a guide than general luxury language. Its selection includes smoked salmon, an endive salad, beef with morel sauce, sea bass and penne with an arrabbiata preparation. Desserts listed include tiramisu, vanilla crème brûlée and an apple crumble. This is a snapshot of the linked menu, not a promise that every dish will remain available. Anyone with allergies or dietary requirements should discuss ingredients and preparation directly with the restaurant. The document is useful for understanding the style of the offer; it does not establish a current tasting experience, service speed or value judgement.

A coastal district beyond the casino
Cannes Tourism distinguishes the beaches around Pointe Croisette and Gazagnaire from the central Croisette's hotel-associated beach establishments. Around Palm Beach and Mouré Rouge, the emphasis includes smaller coastal spaces and nautical activities. Bijou Plage also has an adapted bathing facility identified by the tourism office. These places belong to the wider district, not to the casino's list of included amenities. Conditions and operating seasons must be checked separately, especially for assisted bathing or organised water activities. The coastal setting can be explored without entering a gaming room, but a pleasant seafront location is not evidence that swimming or navigation conditions are suitable on any particular day.

The working context of Port Pierre Canto
Port Pierre Canto adds a practical maritime dimension to this part of Cannes. The municipality describes a marina accommodating more than five hundred boats, with technical facilities and services for boat owners, navigators and crews. Its harbour office has its own contact details and berthing procedures, separate from Palm Beach hospitality reservations. For a land-based visitor, the port helps explain the district's relationship with leisure boating rather than simply providing a decorative backdrop. Do not infer public access to individual pontoons or yachts from a general waterfront walk. Likewise, the casino's address does not provide permission to berth or use port services.

A dated winter event, not a casino promotion
The municipal agenda announces the second Palm Beach Christmas Village from 3 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. At this profile's October research date, it is a future programme, not an event already operating. The listing specifies different opening patterns before and after 17 December and identifies Palm Beach as the contact for practical information. This is useful news about the wider complex rather than an inducement to gamble. Families considering the village should follow the event's own arrangements; an all-public festive activity does not make casino gaming areas accessible to children. Recheck the dated municipal notice before travelling because event programmes can change.

The return of the casino in 2024
The regional tourism organisation's 2025 press kit records the Royal Palm inauguration in December 2024. It describes a renewed gaming space and a bar-restaurant, situating the reopening within the larger Palm Beach redevelopment. This is historical context, not breaking news in October 2026. It also helps distinguish reviews of the new operation from older comments about previous Palm Beach incarnations. A review written before that reopening may concern a different configuration or business. Contemporary visitors should therefore use the present official website for practical arrangements and read dated customer accounts with attention to which venue and period they actually describe.

Customer reviews
Tripadvisor; reviewer Alex M and casino management response — 2025-02-14
Alex M criticised a pasta dish and the décor. In its 28 February 2025 response, management expressed regret and said the food feedback had been passed to the kitchen. These are dated individual and management accounts, not an independent inspection.
