Casino Partouche Cabourg: the property and its location

Property and location research updated 26 October 2026.

The casino is no longer on the seafront

Casino Partouche Cabourg now operates at 60 Avenue de la Brèche Buhot, not in the historic waterfront building beside the Grand Hôtel. This distinction is essential when arranging transport or interpreting older photographs. The operator’s current site describes a contemporary property with Le Trèfle restaurant, a lounge bar, event facilities and parking. Its published inventory separates machines, electronic positions and traditional tables; these describe the venue rather than any likelihood of a favourable outcome. Adult entry and identification requirements apply. The new address should be used even when a search result still displays the old seafront casino or refers to its former restaurant branding.

A relocation completed in April 2026

The municipality confirms that the replacement casino opened on 28 April 2026. The previous building closed the evening before, followed by an overnight transfer of equipment to the new premises. Cabourg identifies structural limitations, accessibility and parking among the reasons for the move, rather than presenting it simply as a change of décor. The new building contains about 2,700 square metres overall, with roughly 1,000 square metres devoted to gaming. Those figures describe different areas and should not be conflated. The announcement also notes continuity in restaurant and other teams, while describing the relocation as part of a broader redistribution of leisure activity within the town.

The wider development and its limits

The municipal project page places the casino beside the aquatic centre and near Garden Tennis Club, on a site of approximately 11,000 square metres. Construction began in February 2024. The city describes rainwater recovery for planting and a proposed use of heat from gaming equipment to support the neighbouring aquatic centre. Its wording presents the heat contribution as an eventual objective; it should not be reported as a measured operational saving. The relocation also frees the historic seafront building for a planned return to theatre use. That intention is important to the town’s cultural strategy, but does not establish that the restored theatre is already finished or operating.

Access and the contemporary interior

Cabourg’s current visitor listing describes the new venue as a light-filled contemporary space with a restaurant, bar, meeting facilities and areas for relaxation. It records 150 parking spaces and identifies accessibility provisions including an elevator, level areas, circulation routes and an adapted reception. These details are more useful for practical planning than assuming that a new building automatically meets every individual requirement. Anyone needing particular assistance should confirm the route and facilities directly. The listing’s daytime and late-night schedules concern the casino; they do not guarantee that every restaurant service, meeting room or entertainment programme runs throughout those hours. Separate arrangements remain necessary for organised groups.

Meetings and private functions

Partouche’s events division explicitly acknowledges the move from the waterfront to Avenue de la Brèche Buhot. It identifies two reception rooms, a terrace and catering through Le Trèfle, with the Carré d’As room among the named spaces. This gives business visitors a clearer picture of the property’s non-gaming functions. Published capacities are indicative of particular layouts and should be checked against the proposed event, rather than treated as one universal number for the whole building. A seminar, private celebration and public evening programme can impose different requirements. The terrace description does not imply that the new premises retain the former casino’s direct beach or sea-facing position.

Aqua Diva belongs to the neighbouring leisure district

Aqua Diva opened in July 2024 on Avenue Guillaume Le Conquérant, before the casino relocation. The municipality describes indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, including a twenty-five-metre sports pool, an outdoor Nordic pool, family water areas and separate wellbeing spaces. It is an intercommunal facility operated under its own arrangements, not a casino amenity included with admission. The proximity explains the city’s description of a leisure district, but visitors should still check separate opening schedules and access conditions. Families can use the aquatic destination without treating an adult casino as a family attraction. The two neighbouring businesses serve different purposes despite their relationship within the urban development plan.

The Grand Hôtel remains a separate historic landmark

Cabourg’s Grand Hôtel belongs to the waterfront story that older casino descriptions often evoke. The regional tourism office dates the present hotel’s inauguration to 7 July 1907 and identifies architects Lucien Viraut and Eugène Ernest Mauclerc. An earlier luxury hotel had stood nearby since the nineteenth century. Marcel Proust’s stays and the hotel’s later appearances in cinema contribute to its cultural identity. These associations explain the appeal of the historic district without transferring its architecture to the replacement casino. Someone seeking the Belle Époque façade, hotel gardens or literary setting should plan that as a separate destination, not expect to find them at the current gaming entrance.

The promenade and the museum offer another perspective

The tourism office describes the Promenade Marcel Proust as a 3.6-kilometre waterfront route extending from Cap Cabourg’s dunes towards Home-Varaville. Connections inland lead towards gardens and villas, making the seafront a useful starting point for understanding the resort’s layout. It is not the new casino’s frontage. That distinction prevents a misleading itinerary based on the old relationship between beach, hotel and gaming rooms. A visit can combine these different parts of Cabourg, but the transfer should be planned rather than assumed to be a few steps through the same complex.

Belle Époque collections with a seasonal programme

The Villa du Temps retrouvé offers a museum interpretation of Cabourg’s Belle Époque through artworks and objects borrowed from public and private collections. Its 2026 programme includes an Orient-Express exhibition covering the years 1883 to 1918, scheduled from 28 February to 11 November. Those are exhibition dates, not the lifetime of the railway service. The museum uses Proust as a guide to the period’s daily life and cultural activity. It provides context for the resort’s historic identity while remaining independent of the casino. Seasonal opening arrangements and changing loans mean that a named artist or exhibition should not be assumed to remain permanently on display.

The museum’s emphasis on loans also distinguishes it from a preserved private residence whose contents never change. A cultural visit is therefore best planned around the current exhibition calendar. Together with the promenade and hotel exterior, it explains why Cabourg retains a literary and architectural identity even though the casino itself now occupies a modern site away from the historic seafront.
