Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles: the property and its location

Property and location research updated 26 October 2026.

An all-suite resort beside the Missouri River

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles combines a riverfront hotel with gaming, restaurants and meeting facilities in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Its accommodation is an all-suite offering, not the same hotel product as Ameristar Kansas City. On February 24, 2025, Boyd Gaming announced completion of a renovation covering 397 suites. The announcement described rooms ranging from 650 to 1,800 square feet, updated furnishings, integrated power connections and redesigned bathroom fittings. These are details of a completed 2025 project, not an announced October 2026 refurbishment. Some general hotel pages still round the inventory to four hundred suites; the dated renovation announcement supplies the more specific project figure. Individual room categories and views remain distinct, so photographs of a larger suite should not be assumed to represent every reservation.

Hotel arrangements before arrival

The hotel's published frequently asked questions set standard check-in from four in the afternoon and require the checking-in guest to be at least twenty-one. Early access can incur a separate fee rather than being an automatic benefit of reaching the property ahead of time. Minors must remain accompanied by an adult under the stated hotel policy. The property also has designated smoking floors, so travellers sensitive to tobacco should make room requirements explicit when arranging accommodation. These operator policies are different from a general statement about what Missouri law permits. The same information page states that the pool closes seasonally, a useful corrective to assuming an indoor-outdoor pool operates without interruption throughout winter.

Pool access has day-specific restrictions

The aRa pool area combines indoor and outdoor water spaces, hot tubs and a fire pit, with the river landscape forming part of its setting. The posted rules allow a maximum of four entry armbands per room and require every entrant to wear one. This matters for a larger household because a room reservation alone does not imply unlimited pool admissions. The current schedule lists all-ages swimming Monday through Thursday and adults-only access for guests aged twenty-one and above Friday through Sunday. Younger swimmers require accompanying adults when permitted, and additional restrictions apply to the outdoor hot tub. Outside food, coolers and glass are prohibited. Hours can change, and the separate hotel FAQ describes seasonal closure, so checking current operation is more reliable than treating photographs as a live availability notice.

aRa Spa operates on its own timetable

The resort's aRa Spa occupies approximately seven thousand square feet and lists treatments alongside a steam room, sauna, Swiss shower and hydro-pool. Its facilities provide a separate relaxation and personal-care component rather than evidence that medical benefits have been independently demonstrated. The published weekly schedule closes the spa on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with varying hours on other days. At this research check, the page also identifies Thanksgiving as a closure, illustrating why a broad assumption of daily resort services can be misleading. Treatments should be arranged directly and their access conditions checked before arrival. The presence of a fitness centre or hotel pool does not establish that spa treatments are included in the room price. Individual suitability, cancellations and any additional charges belong in the actual appointment discussion.

Dining is changing, so distinguish open from announced

The current dining directory lists Asia, Charter 18 Modern Tavern, Copper Whisk, Fifth Street Deli and The Salted Lime among the property's outlets. It also labels Alder and Birch as coming soon, which is materially different from confirming that restaurant is already serving guests. Existing photographs or an announced concept do not erase that distinction. Charter 18 has an American tavern identity, while Copper Whisk is a cafe and bakery and The Salted Lime serves Mexican dishes. Each outlet's own schedule should determine whether it suits a particular day. Older brochures containing previous restaurant names are useful historical material, but they should not override the current operator directory when planning a meal.

Conference spaces are part of the property

Ameristar's meeting directory describes a conference centre exceeding sixty thousand square feet alongside spaces with more specialised settings. Brilliance and Discovery levels serve conventional meeting needs, while RYSE, Bottleneck Blues Bar and Landmark Atrium offer alternative environments for receptions and gatherings. The distinction matters because a ballroom presentation, a seated meal and an informal reception require different layouts and technical arrangements. A listed area is not a universal guest capacity. Organisers should establish the actual room configuration, accessibility route and production requirements with the venue rather than assuming the casino's entertainment infrastructure supplies everything automatically. Charter 18 also appears among the event options, but a restaurant gathering is not interchangeable with a private conference floor. This business-facing infrastructure explains another reason visitors might stay without making gaming their principal purpose.

Main Street preserves Missouri's first government setting

St. Charles offers historical context beyond the resort. Missouri's first legislators met here in 1821 while a permanent seat of government was being prepared in Jefferson City. The temporary capitol occupied upstairs rooms in adjoining brick buildings, with commercial activity below. Legislative work continued in St. Charles until 1826. Missouri State Parks describes a later restoration that recovered the government rooms and associated domestic and retail settings. The interpretation includes difficult debates about slavery and state powers rather than presenting the buildings only as picturesque architecture. The historic site is a separate public attraction on Main Street, not a resort exhibit. Guided visits and the interpretive centre have their own arrangements, and the historic fabric can create access limitations that are different from those in a modern hotel.

Frontier Park brings the riverfront outdoors

Frontier Park at 500 South Riverside Drive provides a public riverside setting away from the enclosed resort. The municipal parks department lists sixteen acres, a Lewis and Clark statue, Katy Depot, picnic shelters and an outdoor stage. The Katy Trail passes through the park, connecting this local open space with a wider recreational corridor. A paved walking and cycling route and year-round restrooms add practical value for visitors who want an outdoor stop rather than a long expedition. The park also hosts community events, so its atmosphere can vary between an ordinary weekday and a festival. Checking event notices and weather is more useful than promising a quiet experience. The landscape connects present-day recreation with the river's longstanding importance to St. Charles, without implying hotel ownership or exclusive guest access.
